Sloth bear under pressure
The Sloth bear is one of the world’s eight living bear species and can be found throughout the forests of Southern Asia

It’s suffering universally from habitat loss and illegal hunting for the dancing bear and bear-baiting trades.

Poached bears are taken illegally across international borders to be butchered for their gall bladders

The Sloth bear is classified as ‘vulnerable’ by the World Conservation Union, IUCN; based on a serious decline in its population over the past 30 years

Free the Bears Fund has helped rescue more than 600 bears from the dancing-bear trade and the illegal wildlife trade
